VPN permission explainer

Understand what an app is asking to access before you decide.

Your entries stay on this page. These tools do not run network tests.

A request is a reason to ask questions.

Permissions describe potential access, not proof that an app has used or misused it. This tool does not inspect your phone, identify malware or certify a provider. A VPN setup request is separate from access to contacts, photos or a microphone. Judge each request against the feature you deliberately chose.

Menus and access scopes vary by OS release. Read the exact system dialog and the provider’s explanation. On a managed device, ask its administrator before altering profiles or permissions. We do not request access to your device or change any setting.

Research note: relevant Android, Apple and provider setup documentation checked 3 November 2026. Examples are editorial questions, not findings about a particular app.
